Jack's Weather Report

Happy New Year

By Jack Martin on Jan 02, 2019 at 08:00 PM

Yes, another new year has arrived. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves last night.

It was a fun night with friends and I made it to 10pm. A mile stone for me.

The weather to start the year is interesting. Locally we have cold and wind.

Nationally, the East coast and Pacific Northwest are wet. Also look at the subtropical jet over the Baja.

Dry, but windy weather for some locations. Everyone will have chilly temps.

Today I decided to feature Santa Ynez, my old stomping grounds.

If you are waking up there this morning, it is a chilly 30 degrees. Highs for the day will hit 60 degrees at best.

Good Monday morning,

Or the last 18 hours of 2018.

Where fireworks may be common for New Year’s Eve . This will be replaced by wind in venture and areas south into Pasadena .

Wind is going to come up tonight before the celebration in those areas. We are going to

Have a cold Santa Ana wind event . Winds will blow into New Year’s Day .

It is looking like those areas can see 20 to 30 mile winds and gusts 45 to 60 in the mountains and valleys.

This will make for a tough new year day at the rose bowl parade and game.

Temps will also be well below normal . Lows in valleys will dip into the 20 something the next few nights.

Highs will be in the low 60s.

There is not a lot of weather excitement, with the exception of wind and colder.

It looks like we will see dry weather through most of next week.

In the short term, not much to really talk about.

Today, sunny and a nice winter day with highs in the 60s.

Tonight maybe some sundowner winds in areas.

The good news is, it looks like rain will not dampen our Christmas now. Any rain will be sprinkles and real rain will be in SLO and north.
