Jack's Weather Report
Good Foggy Saturday Morning
A blanket of fog is going to make clearing slow today.
Sun should prevail in the valleys this afternoon in the valley, but fog in the coastal areas might stick around later in the day.
Here is the weather story for the next week. It spells 2 different cut-off lows.
The second one that arrives Thursday into Friday and is in the picture now. Look well out to the west.

Let’s talk about the first cut-off low first. This is around 800 miles off the coast.
It is going to drift closer as the hours move on today.
5/3/19 Weekend Weather
As far as today and the weekend weather, we are looking at fog, drizzle and a chance of rain starting Sunday through Monday. This is all thanks to the cut-off low that has been spinning in the Pacific. It will be inching closer and should be over point conception on Sunday.
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
As mentioned yesterday, there is not a lot of moisture with this system. However, rain is possible Sunday and Monday.
Low pressure moves over Arizona on Tuesday, so rain chances will go away.
5/2/19 Weather Forecast
Good Thursday morning,
Another week rolling past. Today is even like Friday for businesses with a flex schedule.
Today and Friday will be nice spring days, with some fog in the morning, but clearing fairly early. We are starting out today with clear skies in SB.
Temps will actually be normal to a few degrees above normal. Expect highs in the lower 70s today and Friday.
Friday morning will be a repeat of today. Where Fog occurs, it will clear early in the day.
Friday night, the cut-off low will move a little closer and begin to affect the weather.
5/1/2019
Welcome to a new month. My goodness, the days, weeks and months seem to fly by.
Last evening the northwest winds came up some and drove the low clouds and fog out of Santa Barbara. Leaving us clear skies this morning.
For others, the marine layer is 4,500 feet thick. This will bring us another cooler day. Actually it is starting out quite chilly today.
Overall, it will be a nice day with high pressure building in. SB May might even get to 70 degrees today.
Thursday, high pressure and some weak off shore winds arrive. This will warm up inland areas, but coastal, it will not be enough to keep the fog away.
4/29/19 Rain Forecast
Look at that, we had .15 inch of rain overnight in Santa Barbara. My rain clock woke me up at midnight to hear and see the rain dropping. That was a sight we have not seen in awhile.

The cut off low is spinning right over us right now. Rain is falling in Santa Maria and north. I expect Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez to see more rain shortly. Rain for us should end by noon. Ventura to LA will see rain move in this morning and last into the afternoon. This system is very showery in nature, so most areas will see totals vary. 1/10 to 1/3 is expected. Santa Barbara is already half way there.

Gloomy morning out there.
Fog, drizzle and cool temps are the story for the day, and the week ahead.
The story for the next 2 days is going to be a cut-off low spinning off shore.
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/weus/h5-loop-wv.html
This will bring in a chance of light rain this afternoon and tonight for mainly the southern 2/3 of the forecast area.
This low pressure system is just spinning off shore and will begin to move onshore this afternoon. Depending on the north or south track, we could see some light rain tonight and Monday morning.
4/26/19
Good Friday morning,
It is like pea soup out there. Very damp this morning with the fog layer extending into the valleys today.
Today will be a cooler day, with temps a few degrees cooler than yesterday. Fog will clear slowly today, with valleys clearing mid day.
For Santa Barbara, we will likely see fog well into the afternoon. We will also see the clouds of the mountains with a slight chance of thunder storms.
Likely not, but it will pretty the skies with the puffy white clouds after the fog breaks.
Thursday Forecast Update
Good Thursday morning,
One more warm day inland with cooling along the coast. Today a weak low pressure system will affect the area starting this afternoon.
For us, the most we will see are the pretty puffy colds building over the mountains. There is a slight chance of rain over the Ventura mountains.
Friday and Saturday really begin to cool off. Fog should get to 2500 ft and drift into the valleys.
It is looking to be a cooler weekend with low clouds and fog.
Sunday should start off with fog. There is even a chance of drizzle in the morning.
4/24/19 Weather
Good Wednesday morning,
Tuesday sure was a great day. We hit 83 in Santa Barbara. Paso robles hit 90.
Not much excitement to talk about this time of the year, and the next 5 days are exactly that.
The excitement comes in fog verses sunshine. Hot verses cooler, But here we go.
Today. On shore flow is back to coastal areas. I can see the mist in the air through my security cameras.
Inland valleys will still remain above normal temps, coastal areas will drop into the upper 70s.
Still nice overall.
Thursday, low pressure drops in. This will do nothing more than give us greater morning dampness and fog along the coast.
