2/02/2019 Saturday Wet

By Jack Martin on Feb 04, 2019 at 04:28 PM

Good Saturday morning,

Well it is game on…. We have received around ¾ of an inch of rain so far, but the event is just starting.

The heavy rain is starting up in Santa Barbara right now. Heavy rain will fall from 4am to 10am in SB. 6am to noon Ventura and 7am into the afternoon in LA.

Update Before The Event

By Jack Martin on Feb 02, 2019 at 12:49 AM

Here we go. 4:25pm your time 7:25pm mine. In my Miami office … “I thought that sounded pretty Cool. “

Really I am just heading on a cruise, but still working on the event and work stuff.

I figured I should at least give a update, before the event.

The real event will not start until after midnight, but some lighter rain will start up in a few hours.

This is the real deal.

The latest forecast indicates everything said earlier in the day, it is right in line with current time.

We are going to have a period of around 12 hours of real heavy rain.

Good morning,

Are you ready for the biggest storm, we have seen this rainy season?

Today it is calm, with only high clouds until this evening, then the event begins.

It's funny, I was trying to think what to call this, we will go with EVENT.

Rain will start out light this evening, and will pick up as the night continues. By around 4am the event really starts. It is going to blow and rain really hard. This is also going to be a prolonged event. With every update, the weather service has increased the rain totals. If there has been any storm to be aware of in Montecito, this will be the one...

1/31/19

Good Thursday morning Jim... it is Thursday now!

The rain is now knocking on most all of your doors. We have a nicely defined low rolling through this morning. Rain will fall for around 6 hours, then some showers. By the afternoon we will see peaks of sunshine. As nice as this system looks from the sky, it does not have a lot of moisture to tap into.

Even with lack of moisture we still have south flow, so the mountains in SB will help the totals with around an inch in the hills. For us 1/2 to 3/4 is likely.

1/29/19 Weather

By Jack Martin on Jan 29, 2019 at 03:49 PM

Good Thursday morning,

2 more days of January, then we welcome February.

For the record, February is normally our wettest month, and also our shortest month.

This all means we should have more rain days.

With that being said, we are going to start February with rain, it is also looking like we will see at least 3 different systems in the 7 day forecast.

We have 2 more dry days, then the tap opens.

Thursday or over night Wednesday the rain will begin. We will see light to moderate rainfall 1/4 to 1/2 inch. LA will see more 1/4 to 3/4.

This first system is weaker and will not pack a big punch.

By Jack Martin on Jan 28, 2019 at 03:58 PM

Good Sunday morning,

Saturday sure was a great day with a high in SB of 81 degrees.

Sunday will be great also, but just 8 to 10 degrees cooler

Monday through Wednesday will be seasonable and dry.

Thursday, the changes begin. We are now looking at a cut-off low dropping into our area.

1/27/19 Happy Saturday

By Jack Martin on Jan 28, 2019 at 03:57 PM

Summer weather today, after a cold start to the morning.

Today will be summer like as the off shore event ramps up later this morning.

It is going to get windy in Santa Ana wind prone areas. Ventura south will see winds 30 to40 miles an hour and up-to 50 in the hills.

In Santa Barbara no wind just warm weather. We might even see some low 80s.

Sunday, still a great day, just mid 70s however. We will take that for January.

1/25/2019 Summer for the Weekend

By Jack Martin on Jan 25, 2019 at 06:55 PM

Good Friday morning,

We are going to have a fantastic weekend, if you like sunshine and warm temps.

Highs today and Saturday will be in the upper 70s, with a few areas hitting the 80 degree mark. This is all due to high pressure and off shore winds over Southern California.

Slight cooling Sunday.
