Jack's Weather Report

10/22/19 Heatwave

By Jack Martin on Oct 22, 2019 at 03:19 PM

Good Tuesday morning,

Monday was quite hot. High in Santa Barbara of 91 degrees. Today we should even be hotter. 90s and some locations seeing us top triple digits.

Yes welcome to the Santa Ana season.

I think Johnny Carson said it best. People say Southern California does not have 4 seasons.

Well they are wrong, we have fire, flood, wind and rainy season.

Good Monday morning,

It was a great summer like weekend and summer like conditions are going to continue all week. We are looking at 80s and 90s everywhere.

The winds have been manageable along the coast, but the Montecito hills are still seeing 50 mile an hour wind through mid morning.

Winds are going to shift to Ventura and south as we set up for northeast winds and a Santa Ana event.

Good Sunday morning,

The light of day is arriving now. If you walk outside you will find it to be quite warm, with a light breeze. Santa Barbara is 70 degrees thanks to the north winds.

Good Saturday morning,

Lots of clear skies out there today. As a matter of fact, we are looking at the same conditions through next week.

The story is once again about the wind. A system to the north is pushing into the Great Basin and this will create wind once again.

Happy Friday,

Windy Thursday night sparked one fire. It made for a rough commute to santa Ynez and north homes.

I watch the trail of headlights and break lights climbing the pass from my house. I am glad I was watching and not in it.

Winds should die down today and through Saturday, but Saturday night they are back for another round into Sunday morning.

Good Thursday morning,

Another week flying by. Speaking of flying, the start of the wind event will begin today and last throughout the weekend.

Winds will not be too crazy, but mountain areas will reach gusts of 50 miles an hour.

Today will be a cool day as low pressure has taken over. Winds will also pick up this afternoon and northwest winds will be around tonight.

Good Wednesday morning,

Today will be a transition day. Overall a nice day, with temps a few degrees above normal.

Tonight some high clouds will pass over us as a low pressure front washes over us. This will bring some wind to mainly gaviota and north Goleta.

Weather should be pleasant at the Bowl for Jimmy Buffett.

Thursday and through the weekend, it is all about wind.

Winds will be northwest and northeast at different times. Looks like Montecito hill will have the biggest target on there backs.

Good Tuesday morning,

There is not a lot to say about the weather this week, we will have warming the next 2 days, then cooling the next 2. The weekend looks to be nice.

There will be some winds at times, sundowner and Santa Ana, but nothing that will be like last weeks event.

Wednesday night and Thursday we will see some high clouds as a weak system to the north washes over us.

Happy Columbus Day,

Not sure who really celebrates this holiday, but for those who have the day off good for you.

Not I. It will be a perfect working day. Temps will rise into the low 70s keeping everyone cooler today.

Tuesday, high pressure ramps up providing a warm up through Wednesday. Maybe a few weak sundowner winds Tuesday evening, but on the weaker side.

Good Sunday morning,

If you look outside right now to the west, you will see the full moon setting.

Since the wind to the south is gone, they can recover from the mess in the yards and decks. The good news is the fires were minimal.

Today will be sunny and cooler. Highs in the low 70s along the coast and low 80s inland.
