Jack's Weather Report

Weekend Weather

By Jack Martin on Apr 05, 2019 at 09:43 PM

Good Friday morning,

The first weekend in April will bring us typical spring weather. Then a nice warm up Sunday and Monday.

If you look at the satellite picture, it looks like rain would be possible. https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html

But, It is that time of year. where low pressure systems pack less impact to our area. The past few systems is a perfect example of this.

Todays system will follow the same path. Today rain will fall in the central coast, but it will struggle to get around point conception.

Any rain that does will be on the light side, meaning 1/10 of an inch Santa Barbara and south. The central coast could see ¼ to 1/3 in northern areas.

Good morning,

Happy birthday Dina. For your 40th, there will be a weak ridge over us.

Nice day, but lots of high and mid level clouds.

Thursday the first of 2 lows starts to move in. Looks like we could have some dampness each morning with some drizzle is possible. Even a slight chance of rain, but mostly to the north.

Friday more of the same, as the second low arrives.

This one gives us a better chance of rain in the afternoon, however most should remain in the central coast.

Possibly a 1/10 for us, and 1/4 in SLO.

Good Tuesday morning,

Monday must have been lonely without my report. I felt the same way after a fun weekend in Vegas.

Onto better things.

Today, a very weak system will bring temps down 10 to 12 degrees from Monday.

As far as rain goes, maybe some light drizzle along the foothills. It will remain cooler and any rain should stay north of point conception.

Good Saturday morning,

Are we ready for a great weekend? Last night I sat outdoors till 9 pm, enjoying the great spring night. Sonos and fire pit helped make the great weather perfect.

As we all know this is going to be the perfect weekend. So there is nothing more to say.

Fun facts Saturday:

Santa Barbara has 128% of average rainfall for the year, Cachuma is at 78%, Sunday will be above 80 degrees. Maybe a new record.

3/29/19 Weekend Weather

By Jack Martin on Mar 29, 2019 at 03:58 PM

Good Friday morning,

The weekend is fast approaching and warmer weather will be part of it.

Yesterday we had those northwest winds start up in the afternoon and blow into the evening.

Winds are calm now, but we will have 1 more evening of sundowner northwest winds.

Expect winds around 35 miles an hour from the northwest, with Gaviota peaking at 50 miles an hour late in the day.

Saturday, the winds turn to the northeast and Ventura south get the wind. This will also heat up the air with a good off shore wind event.

Good Thursday morning,

Yesterday was Wednesday, so you know it had to rain....

That was fun yesterday for a few hours of some light to moderate rain.

On the south coast, Santa Barbara was the big winner with 1/4 inch of rain. Most other areas on the south coast got 1/10 or slightly more.

The central coast was the winner with 1/3 to 3/4 of an inch.

Today, one more system, but this will only bring rain in Monterey and north. For us cooler, with below normal temps.

Tonight, sundowner winds. The front washes through and creates typical northwest winds at Jack’s house.

Friday, high pressure builds in. We will start a warm up for the weekend.

Good Wednesday morning,

Here is the low spinning off the coast north of us:

https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html

Any rain out of this system will create only showers south of point conception.

The low will drop south towards us by noon and give us some light showers.

Any rain will result in very low accumulation. Looking at 1/10 to 1/4 at best in Santa Barbara and Ventura. LA will likely see only clouds and no rain.

Tonight there still will be a chance of showers, but not much of anything.

Tuesday Morning

Good Tuesday morning,

Here we go, entrenched in another work week.

Today we will see the next weather system start to roll in.

Clouds will begin to stream over the area, making it a cooler day with highs in the mid to upper 60s.

The satellite actually looks quite impressive, but the rain is really falling in the Bay Area to the Pacific Northwest.

For us we will only see the  tail end of this.

Good Monday morning,

It sure was a nice Sunday after the little weather system washed out on Saturday.

It actually looked like it was going to rain Saturday, but just some sprits. Sunday certainly made up for Saturday with highs in the low 70s.

Today we will have another repeat of Sunday. It will even be a few degrees warmer. Highs in the mid 70s today.

https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html

Tonight a weak storm system moves through to the north. Looks like north of point conception could see a little rain, but only 1/10 of an inch.
