Jack's Weather Report

9/8/19 Wind Update

By Jack Martin on Sep 09, 2019 at 03:43 PM

Good Sunday morning,

Winds last night made it as far south as the San Marcos Pass. SCE shut down the power on some 600 homes, north of Goleta.

The winds did come up in Goleta north, but Santa Barbara had little wind.

Today we will have another warm day, with another round of sundowner winds tonight from the Northwest.

Looks like winds will change to the Northeast around midnight and this will affect the Montecito hills.

9/7/19

Good Saturday morning,

An interesting day and evening ahead.

Low pressure is building in today. This is going to create some wind during the day, but the real event will be later in the day, evening until midnight. Winds today will be all over the board, Southwest, south. It changes this afternoon to west and northeast. Northeast winds will really affect the Montecito hills. Northwest winds affects Gaviota, Goleta and San Marcos Pass areas.

The weather models are showing both solutions. We will have to see how this plays out for the wind event.

9/6/19 Weekend Weather

By Jack Martin on Sep 09, 2019 at 03:37 PM

Today we will begin a transition into low pressure pushing the high pressure to the south. This will create WIND this evening and especially Saturday night.

Sundowner winds will come up this evening in Gaviota then move south to us on Saturday. This will give coastal areas winds in the evening of 15 to 30 miles an hour, mountains 40 to 50 miles an hour.

9/5/2019 Forecast

By Jack Martin on Sep 05, 2019 at 02:54 PM

Good morning,

I thought I would sneak in a forecast this morning.

We have had a fairly warm humid week, and that trend will continue through Friday.

If you take a look at the satellite picture, you will see the subtropical monsoonal moisture rising up from the south.

This can create some rain drops or showers over the mountains. These have remained south of us, but are drifting further to the north today.

Labor Day Weekend Forecast

By Jack Martin on Aug 30, 2019 at 03:03 PM

Good Friday morning,

The long weekend is only a few hours away. For us the weather is going to be a sunny dull forecast. Just great weather coastal. Inland is going to be too hot for me.

90s and low 100s. Looks like we will have some sundowner winds tonight, but mainly in north Goleta.

Atlantic 5-Day Graphical Tropical Weather Outlook

Good Wednesday morning,

No excitement here in California, just sunshine, warm temps and a great week ahead.

So let’s look at some excitement. The East coast and Caribean is battling 2 tropical storms this weekend.

Good Tuesday Morning

By Jack Martin on Aug 27, 2019 at 03:26 PM

Summer is in full swing, with not a lot to report. Of course this weekend is Labor Day weekend and there will be lots of Action in Santa Barbara.

I think this year will be the second anniversary of the micro burst that we had over the Labor Day weekend in 2017.

I don’t expect we will see anything like that, but there is a chance the monsoonal flow will move over LA mountains and deserts late this weekend.

8/20/19

Good Tuesday morning,

I love this time of the year. Warm evenings and calm winds makes it so nice sitting outdoors at sunset and listening to music.

As we wake up this morning, the coastal fog is gone. We will have sunny skies all day. High pressure is building in and inland areas are going to heat up.

Expect the Santa Ynez valley to warm up into the upper 90s. SB will remain in the upper 70s and low 80s. Just perfect !!!

Tonight might be a little different then last night because we are expecting some sundowner winds to affect our area starting around 6 PM.

Perfect Weather for the Weekend

By Jamie Graham on Aug 16, 2019 at 03:24 PM

Perfect Weekend Ahead

This is why we love southern coastal California. Never too hot and never too cold.

Here we are in the middle of August and everyone else is hot or wet.

We just have to put up with damp mornings and mid to upper 70s.

This trend goes through the weekend and into next week, with a warm up early next week.

Good Tuesday morning,

Summer vacation is almost over for the Kids. Time to go back to school, with many of them starting next week.

Today we are starting off with a little fog along the coastal areas.

This will burn off by 11 am and sun will prevail. Inland areas will see only sunny skies.
