Jack's Weather Report

Happy St Patricks Day!!

By Jack Martin on Mar 17, 2022 at 08:00 PM

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day,

Daylight is creeping across the country, but darkness is not stopping the celebration in SLO.

All the Irish pubs are open and busy. Only 2 days a year this happens in the early morning hours.

Saint Patrick’s Day and Cal Poly graduation day.

It is fun, I never drank that early until my daughter graduated from Cal Poly

Good Monday morning,

Hopefully, you got your clocks adjusted and you know what time it is. I woke up and had to ask Alexa because I could not remember if my clock was correct.

Today and this work week will be dry, with some wind at times. Highs will be in the low 70s most of the workweek. Low pressure will move in Tuesday and do nothing more than give us some winds.

Mid-week there is really nothing to talk about. Just good weather.

Good Wednesday morning,

A change in the weather is going to occur starting today. Rain is not in the picture anytime soon.

The hoped that March would bring us a March Miracle but it is not looking good as we are approaching the middle of the month.

Cooler weather will start as low pressure and an inside slider will arrive on Thursday. This will do nothing more than cool us down and create wind. The change is cooler weather with wind Thursday from the Northwest after the dry front washes through.

Friday Northwest winds turn to Northeast winds

Good Friday morning,

Not much rain out there, today we will see a showery pattern with rain coming from over the mountains spreading to the coast. Where rain falls it will be 1/10 to 1/4 of an inch
https://zoom.earth/#view=32.22,-121.76,6.06z/date=2022-03-04,07:50,-7

Tonight the snow level drops to 3000 feet and another low-pressure system heads towards us from Oregon.

Saturday is another chance for more showers from the next system. This one is moisture-starved, so the total will be low. The snow level will be low, with 4 to 6 inches 3000 feet and above.

Good Thursday morning,

Today is a cooler day by 10 to 15 degrees from yesterday. This is created by an approaching front that has cut off from the main low-pressure system. This will work its way towards us today, but any rain will hold off until tonight and Friday. The cut-off low is looking to take a more eastern track, so the rain total will be more like 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
https://zoom.earth/#view=30.2,-105.4,5z/date=2022-03-03,07:10,-7

Rain will start overnight then turn to showers on Friday afternoon. With 1/4 to 1/2 inch of rain for all. Some Santa Ynez mountains will see 3/4 of an inch and snow levels at 5000 ft.

Saturday into Saturday night another system wobbles our way. This is colder and dryer.

Good Wednesday morning,

Today is hump day, but more so transition day. It is hard to believe it is March 2nd and this will be the first real accumulation of rain in our for 2022.

Here’s the scoop:

Today, warm and sunny for the most part. Temps will cool 3 to 8 degrees from Tuesday.

Thursday the change arrives with mid to high clouds streaming over us as a storm system to the north nears point conception.

Thursday night, the rain arrives. This will be the first rainmaker for us in 2022.

Welcome to march, we can only hope that a change to the month will change the weather pattern. Today it will not. It will be summer-like with highs in the 80s for most.

Wednesday however is transition day. We will start to feel a change and go back to onshore flow.

Thursday now is looking more likely we will see a little rain. “stress little“.

A system to the north will bring light rain Thursday afternoon into Friday morning. This looks to only drop 1/10th to 1/4 of an inch at best.

Good Wednesday morning,

It is cold out there. In Santa Ynez, as you go outdoors it is 32 degrees with a wind chill of 25 degrees.

Santa Barbara is a breezy 40 degrees.

The storm was another dud except for the cold air. The Santa Barbara area did only see some sprinkles and no real accumulation. Areas in SLO did better, but less than 1/4 of an inch. Today cold air with some mountain showers, but for our area, the rain chances are over for the most part.

The special date has arrived. 2/22/22. It will be 11 years and 1 month and 11 days before we align numbers like this again.

Today we will have an interesting change in pattern with cold arriving later in the day. The coldest low-pressure system of the season is blasting down from Canada to the North. This will make our weather quite different from what we have seen most of February https://zoom.earth/

Good Friday morning,

The workweek is coming to a close, with another great weekend ahead.

Today we will be influenced by offshore flow, bringing warm temps. Another day in the low 70s . with fantastic conditions, even if we need rain.

Saturday will be a carbon copy of today. Highs in the low 70s and lows in the 40s.

Sunday, we start a cooldown, with onshore flow returning in the afternoon, still a nice day.
