By Jack Martin on Feb 02, 2022 at 06:57 PM

Good Wednesday morning,

Lots of 2’s on our date today. Hard to forget the date.

It is also Groundhog Day with an accuracy rate of 35% regarding the winter.

He is not really that important, except for entertainment value.

The Midwest today will tell you 6 more weeks of winter. Chicago area and Midwest will see lots of snow and over 1200 flight cancelations.

Good Friday morning,

As the weekend approaches so does another Santa Ana with Northeast winds event. This is way better than the Nor’easter on the East coast that is going to bring cold and snow from Phila to Maine this weekend.

https://zoom.earth/

I think it is an easy call to say 70 degrees on California to 20 degrees and snow on the East coast. I am so glad I went west. I moved west 40 years ago.

Good Thursday morning,

Here we go, with the last few days in January and really no rain this month to speak of.

Today we will see our usual sunny warm day with highs in the low 70s.

Good Tuesday morning,

It will be cooler today with highs in the mid-60s. This is thanks to the return of onshore flow and some pockets of fog in areas today.

The onshore flow will be short-lived because another Santa Ana wind event will start up again tonight. Offshore winds will blow through mid-day Wednesday and keep us all warm through Thursday. Highs in the low to mid-70s.

Friday and Saturday a return to onshore and cooler mid-60s again.

Good Friday morning,

What a fantastic day Thursday was in Santa Barbara. It is so nice to feel the sun warming the skin.

If you feel the same, you will like this forecast

Today we have a dry inside slider rolling down the interior with cold air. This means inland temps will remain normal, but coastal areas and valleys will be above normal.

Highs today in the upper 60s. Just look at that big whip pumping the storms up, over, and down the interior.

https://zoom.earth/

Tonight and Saturday another strong Santa Ana wind event. Wind gusts could be as high as 80 miles an hour on some mountain tops near LA, normal wind-prone areas Ventura to LA will see 40 to 60 mile an hour winds tonight and Saturday.

This will compress the air and warm it, as most Santa Ana events do. Highs Saturday and Sunday will be in the low to mid-70s with lots of sunshine.

Good Wednesday morning,

Another week and month marching by.

The next week is dominated by dry weather, warmer Santa Ana winds.

Today a few low clouds to start the day, but any areas with clouds will disappear quickly as the offshore flow begins.
https://zoom.earth/#view=35.02,-115.26,6.16z/date=2022-01-19,05:50,-8

Thursday the offshore kicks in at its normal spots. Ventura to Santa Monica will experience 35 to 45 mile an hour offshore winds. As usual, the winds will compress and warm the air. Ventura south will warm 8 to 10 degrees. Santa Barbara has no wind and 4 to 8 degrees of warming.

Friday winds subside for 1 day, with little change in temp. A few degrees of cooling.

Saturday is another Strong Santa Ana event. This kicks up the winds to the south and heats the skies for all into the low to mid-70s.

Sunday is another great day in Santa Barbara, winds settle in Ventura south.

Good Tuesday morning,

The Cut-off low that has been pestering us for the last 5 days is now moved East.

The rain finally came in the afternoon but did not produce much. The big winner was Refugio canyon with .28", everyone else was 1/10 or less.

A holiday for some, but for all, we have a little rain in the forecast.

The cut-off low that has been spinning in the Pacific is now starting to move towards the coast. This will bring us some light rain after 10 am into this evening.

Good Thursday morning,

As always, the week is flying by. Yesterday the clouds kept us cooler than predicted with a high of 73 degrees.

Today we have lots of action in the Pacific, but not a lot of effects here https://zoom.earth/

Other than cooler weather for the next 7 days. it looks like highs of the mid-60s and high clouds will be part of the forecast through the weekend.
