Jack's Weather Report

5/24/22

By Jack Martin on May 24, 2022 at 07:37 PM

Good Tuesday morning,

Typical late May weather on tap. High pressure has built in, and the inland areas are heating up.

The coastal areas are influenced by an Eddy near Catalina and are producing fog from LA to Santa Barbara.

This is a normal pattern for this time of year

Easy forecast to type and understand.

Good Friday Morning

By Jack Martin on May 20, 2022 at 06:24 PM

Good gloomy Friday,

It is a damp start to the day, as the fog has created some areas with drizzle. Everywhere is cloudy and damp this morning, but I can’t define this as rain.

https://zoom.earth/#view=32.9,-114.1,5.49z/map=live

It is a heavy marine layer. Very typical of this time of year. As I mentioned yesterday, we are entering our next season. Sometimes defined as May-Gray, June-Gloom, and Pea soup. Since we are still in May for 12 more days, we will call it May-Gray.

Today will be cool, damp, and foggy along the coast. Little to no clearing today. high of 55

Good Thursday morning,

Another week literally blew by.

The good news is the winds will start to back off in most locations, except Montecito.

High pressure and offshore winds (better know as Santa Ana) will switch to the Northeast today.

For the past 4 days, the winds have been from the Northwest. The change will do 2 things, most notably warm us up into the upper 70s today, followed by 80s and some 90s over the weekend.

Good Wednesday morning,

Are you getting tired of the wind? The good news is there is just one more night of it. Another low-pressure system in the Pacific Northwest means another round of winds later today and tonight.

The good news is we will get a break from the winds Thursday through Sunday.

Happy Cinco De Mayo

Happy Cinco De Mayo,

May is looking like a typical weather pattern, you can define most weather in May with 2 words FOG and WIND. When there is wind there is no fog.

Highs will be in the mid-70s for most and warmer Saturday into the low 80s.

Good Thursday morning,

Rain is on the way.

The low-pressure system to the north has a long counterclockwise rotation from Canada to the bay areas.
https://zoom.earth/#view=39,-116.9,5.05z/date=2022-04-21,04:50,-7

This will begin to sag south and rain will occur for all starting later in the afternoon for areas north of point conception.

Tonight in areas south of point conception (yes, that’s us). The models have even bumped up the rain totals a bit with 1/3 to 2/3 on the central coast and 1/4 to 1/3 for our area. South facing mountains in SB around 1/2 an inch, and on the central coast up to 1 1/4 of an inch. This is all good news because we will take what we can in late April.

Good Wednesday morning,

The big news of the day is the rain will happen.

Long-range models are always hard this time of year, but short-range models are in and they all agree we will see spring showers with rain Thursday afternoon into Friday morning.

This is thanks to a rainy Pacific Northwest and low pressure sagging into California.

You can see the storm system spinning and sagging towards us  https://zoom.earth/

What does this all mean for us? Other than we will have spring rain …

4/5/22

By Jack Martin on Apr 05, 2022 at 05:12 PM

Good Tuesday morning,

It was a windy night for those in Montecito. The highest wind gust was 71 miles an hour, but most of the area saw gusts in the 50s. The winds will also lead to very hot temps today with highs in the mid to upper 80s in Montecito.

Take a look you will need to blink to believe your eyes

Winds will shift to the south today and rock Mark’s home and everyone’s from Ventura to Catalina Island.

They are in for 24 to 36 hours of wind.

This will also increase the Mercury for all. Highs will go to the 80s and 90s.

Then some valley locations will even see some low 100 reading Thursday and Friday.

Back in our neck of the woods, it will remain in the upper 80s and low 90s through Friday.

The wind event for us is pretty much over, Montecito might still see some wind, but the event has moved south.

Wednesday, March 30, 2022

By Jack Martin on Mar 30, 2022 at 09:06 PM

Good Wednesday morning,

Most coastal areas will start the day with low clouds and fog, however, SB will not due to the North winds last night.
https://zoom.earth/#view=33.47,-117.48,6.19z/date=2022-03-30,06:20,-7

Today there will be some warming highs into the upper 60s.

Thursday another weak weather system will likely bring fog to most coastal areas, and cooler weather. Thursday night another sundowner wind event for Santa Barbara which will lead to clear skies Friday morning.

All other locations will have another start with low clouds and fog.

For the weekend, warming with some fog and low clouds along the coast and warmer inland.

This is a preview of our typical May gray or June gloom along the coast.

Highs will be in the upper 60s to mid-70s in the valleys. Just fine weather.

Next week is looking nice with highs in the low 70s with no threat of rain through at least mid-week.

No excitement in the forecast, but April fools is Friday be aware of pranks 😂

More fun to come

Good Tuesday morning,

High pressure and offshore flow are moving in. This will create hot weather for all.
