Jack's Weather Report

10/11/2021

By Jack Martin on Oct 11, 2021 at 02:40 PM

Good Monday morning,

What a fantastic Sunday it was. Santa Barbara hit 81 degrees and Sunstone vineyard was 89 degrees. Just a fantastic weekend. Today Columbus Day.  A day off for some, but not the construction industry.

If you go outside you can feel the cool off shore dry wind. This is thanks to low pressure in Oregon dropping south over land. This is a colder system that will bring wind and colder air. Some valleys will almost see freezing temps tonight.

Good Friday morning,

Look at that, wet stuff is out there. Hard to call this rain, but it is a wet drizzle.

Looking at the radar, you can see we have some light rain, but LA is certainly much wetter.

https://radar.weather.gov/

This is thanks to low pressure to the north and some subtropical clouds to the south, making it wetter in LA.

Holly Moly,

What a storm last night. That was spectacular!!!

The 20% chance was not much during the day.

It all changed around 4:30 pm, when it was clear that thunderstorms to the south were heading our way.

The show started right around 6:30 and went well into 9 pm. Of course Jack had to climb onto his roof and take some pictures.

Good Monday morning,

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend. Sunday was just a great warm day to get outside .

To start the work week, there is a low-pressure system to the south that should give mainly LA to San Diego a chance for some rain, at around 40%. To the north, here is our area 20% tonight. Today should be cloudy most of the day with some high clouds. Temps will drop off to the mid 70s.

Good Monday morning,

Great full moon last night with a photo of the moon rise over Ed’s house, and set at mine.

Today and Tuesday, northeast winds will warm us up for 2 days.

It will be a nice few days with clear skies and highs around 80in Santa Barbara.

Valleys will be warmer in the upper 80s. Here is how it looks from above https://zoom.earth/

Wednesday, the warm weather goes away, and a cool down begins on the first official day of Fall.

As we get towards the weekend, it looks like we will see a cut off low form.

Remember these? We have not talked about them for at least 6 months.

Confidence is low, but rain is not out of the question.

Stay tuned, but don’t get your hopes too high. It is still only September.

We will likely have 1 more month before we see our first rain of the new season.

Shorter days and mid-September mean’s Fall is upon us.

We are in a cool down as low pressure is affecting our weather with lower temps.

Highs in the valley will be 80 degrees and lows are going to start dipping into the upper 40s.
