Jack's Weather Report
12/1/22
Welcome to December,
This week has been a moving target for a weather person because there have been numerous changes to the rain.
I promise it will rain, but when it will start and how much will fall have changed with the 2 next systems.
let’s start with today:
11/29/22
Good Tuesday morning,
One day closer to the rain, as we try to tighten up the forecast.
We have 2 different systems that will affect us this week, likely Thursday through Sunday. The first is a warm front coming off the pacific with some subtropical moisture attached. The second is colder with less rain potential, but some downpours are possible. So let’s start with today.
11/8/22
Good Tuesday morning,
Last night after the rain stopped, the clouds parted for a great sunset from the freeway.
Rain!! What a wonderful word for California. We saw light to moderate rain Monday and last night.
Rain totals are a good start for the storm, but the real rain will come later in the day. So far mountain areas have seen around an inch of rain and local areas ½ inch.
Montecito is approaching an inch so far. https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/lox/scripts/getlocal.php?prod=LAXRRMSBA
Earlier this morning rain was falling locally, but the bulk of the rain is over LA and San Francisco right now.
11/3/22
Good Thursday morning,
Chilly and windy out there. Did you feel the winds last night? It was rocking my outside TV with the wind at 40 miles an hour last night.
There is a brush fire in Goleta near Ward Dr. burning some of the eucalyptus trees fueled by the winds.
Today we will see the Northwest winds start to shift to the Northeast and bring us a cold Santa Ana wind even into the weekend
Tonight will be the coldest night with Santa Ynez falling to 32 degrees, here in SB we will see a chilly low 40s.
Highs will get into the mid to upper 60s which will keep it sweater weather through the weekend.
All eyes are now on the mid-range forecast with a weather system coming in early next week.
11/1/22
Good Tuesday morning,
November first has arrived and so will our first rain for the season. https://zoom.earth/#view=45.8,-98.9,4z/map=live
This storm will hit late in the day and will move through quickly and it will be over by Wednesday morning.
It looks like a 2-to-3-hour period of rain tonight, and over by 11 pm. We will see a typical 1/10 to ¼ of an inch. This is very typical for the first system that comes right around every Halloween.
The next event will be the wind and cold air. This is a cold system so temps today will be 8 to 15 degrees below normal.
Wednesday will be 15 to 20 degrees below normal; some mountain areas will even see some snow, with snow levels at 3500 feet.
Wednesday night through Thursday night will be quite windy with winds blowing 20 to 40 miles an hour with gusts of 60 in the mountains.
9/16/22
Good Friday morning,
The weekend is almost upon us. It looks like we will have a chance for rain Sunday night into Monday as the first Pacific Northwest storm system is forming in Canada. This will dive south over the next few days and bring us a chance of rain Sunday night into Monday. This will not be a big system, but it will likely make it all the way through Santa Barbara and then die out before it gets to LA. Not a big rain maker 1/4 of an inch in SB and maybe 1/3 on the central coast.

This will be a one-and-done system and bring cooler weather for all. Yes, it appears fall is in the air and we will start to see some changes, especially as the valleys cool more at night.
8/11/22
Good Thursday morning,
I hope everyone is having a great week. Tonight we are in for a nice treat at sunset with the full moon.
This is the largest moon of 2022 and a supermoon called the sturgeon moon. https://video.foxnews.com/v/5664738472001#sp=show-clips
Last night we got a preview of the moon, which was spectacular.
I was at the beach with my granddaughter seeing it rise, it almost took up the entire Eastern skies.
Ed was on it last night also and got us a preview photo, but tonight is the night for the full moon.
7/27/22
Good Wednesday morning,
Cooler weather is on tap for us through the week.
It will feel more like June instead of late July. Not a lot of excitement in the next 3 days.
Temps will be slightly below normal with highs along the coast in the lower 70s, and inland valleys in the mid-80s.
Nights will cool nicely into the lower 60s. Just fantastic summer weather in my book.
7/20/22
Good Wednesday morning,
Zoom earth is showing clear skies throughout the US except for a few areas. The entire west coast is clear except for some sub-tropical moisture trying to work its way up from Baja Mexico.
This should not affect us at all
https://zoom.earth/#view=31.7,-113.1,5.13z/map=live
Today a shallow marine layer will burn off early and we will warm up into the 80s.
Thursday, a low-pressure system moves into the Pacific Northwest.
The only effect for us will be cooler coastal weather and a deeper marine layer.
The weekend looks to be nice with cooler coastal temps high in the upper 70s, and valleys upper 80s.
6/29/22
Good Wednesday morning,
It is good news for the valleys with the heat. Temps are dropping and will be cooling to the low to mid-80s for the weekend and into early next week.
Today will be the last hot day, with low 90s in Santa Ynez and upper 70s in Santa Barbara.
Thursday, we start the real cool down in the valleys with a high of 85. Coastal areas will begin to see more fog and highs in the low to mid-70s.
This will be the forecast through the weekend, with fog along the coast and low 70s. In the valleys low 80s.
At the start of next week, we will continue to see cooler weather as a late-season Pacific Northwest storm drops into their neck of the woods. Here just cooler with some fog
Looking at zoom earth the hurricane season is getting active with a few systems on the East Coast and one on the west.
