Jack's Weather Report

6/29/23

Good Thursday morning,

The month is coming to a close, and it looks like it will end on a good note and warmer weather. If you love 80s along the coast and 90 to 100 in the valleys you’re gonna like this forecast.

Today high pressure is building and temps will be on the rise.
https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-119.66902971267699&lat=34.44315867450578

Starting on Friday, we will really start to warm up lasting through Monday. Along the coast, we’ll see mostly sunny skies with the exception of Catalina, where there’s going to be some clouds.

Everyone will start to see warmer temperatures throughout the weekend through Sunday for sure possibly Monday.

For your Fourth of July, which is Tuesday by the way, it looks like we will start to cool down, but still in the 70s coastal and 80s in the valleys.

If you are heading to the lake, Nascimento or San Antonio, you’ll be in triple digits throughout the entire weekend cooling Tuesday.

This weekend along the beach is gonna be busy, looks like Santa Barbara should get into the low 80s both Saturday, Sunday and possibly Monday.

It should be a great holiday weekend. I’m sure traffic will ramp up on Friday and then Tuesdays ride home.

Maybe the fourth on a Tuesday will break up the traffic a little bit. We will see, but the Santa Barbara and central coast will be the spot to enjoy for this holiday.

Have a great day,
Jack Martin

Good Wednesday morning,
It looks like summer weather is going to arrive, especially inland, and in the valleys.
Looking across the country and zoom earth, you can see some weather that’s creating havoc on the East Coast and the first tropical storm in Mexico. This is really just going to drift out to sea, and won't do much, but it shows us that summer has arrived.
https://zoom.earth/storms/adrian-2023/
For us, still some fog along the coast and clearing as we get into the weekend, it will warm up. The real warm-up is going to be in the valleys Saturday and Sunday, the south Santa Clarita and those areas. Our Santa Ynez Valley will be in the 90s. Coastal will remain nice, but cooler with upper 70s and some morning fog.
Next week we will continue to have warmer weather through mid week and it’ll cool down the second half. Temps will remain around normal for this time of year the second half of the week.
It looks like it should be a nice holiday to hang out in Santa Barbara and enjoy the weather and not have to worry about traveling anywhere!
Enjoy the weather,
Jack Martin

What a great weekend it was with the sunshine, returning to Santa Barbara and some sundowner winds last night kept it clear and warmer well into the evening.

This week we’re looking at clear skies most of the week, highs in Santa Barbara will be in the low 70s and in the valleys, upper 70s.

As we arrive into the second half of the week it looks like a big warm-up, especially in the valleys, expect upper 80s to low 90s. Santa Barbara should warm up into the upper 70s.

These temperatures are still below normal. The first half of the week is going to be perfect weather. Anything in the 70s is perfect for me.

Have a great week!

What a great start to the summer yesterday was, it was just beautiful with all the sunlight through to almost 9:00 PM

Today we have a weak low pressure system that is working its way through the central coast and out towards Nevada. That’s will do nothing more than keep us cool. Today along the coast will be in the upper 60s and slightly warmer by a few degrees in the valley, well below normal:
https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=34.9,-117,4z/date=2023-06-22,05:50,-7

Some sundown winds are possible tonight.

Looks like more clouds on Friday with the marine layer hanging out a lot of the day.

The weekend pattern will not change much, highs in the upper 60s to 70 in Santa Barbara and in the valleys mid to upper 70s.

Looking into next week not a huge pattern change - morning low clouds, then clearing another cool week.

If you trust the extended models, it looks like we should start to warm up the first week in July and if the models are correct, July will be above normal temps for the entire month. We will see how that plays out but we’re due to break this pattern.

Have a great day

June 21 at 7:57 AM, we welcome Summer! Yes, today is officially the longest day of the year and it should be a nice one. Looking at the satellite, not a lot of action to the west today should be relatively clear with some low clouds, but for the most part a nice first day of summer. Here’s how it looks from the sky.
https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=24.9,-109.2,4z
To spite the sunny weather today, temps will still be slightly below normal.
Looks like maybe some wind this evening from the north west down to Santa Barbara.
On Thursday and Friday looks like a return to the marine layer and even drizzle possible. Temps will also drop off and will cool 5 to 7 degrees and be 6 to 15 degrees below normal, especially in the valleys.
Looking into Friday and the weekend, we’ll start to recover again and things will begin to warm up, bringing us back normal temperatures for this time of year.
More sunshine, warmer temps, 70s and 80s for the weekend.
Enjoy your first day of summer. It should be a nice one, but we’re back to June gloom Thursday and Friday.
For the parade on Saturday I think we’ll be seeing some sunshine. Mark your spots on Santa Barbara St. Near Playa Azule where they sell margaritas outside... it makes the parade more entertaining 😂
Have a great first day of summer ☀️

Good Wednesday morning,
Take a look, last night around 8 o’clock sun came out and made a great sunset. But our June gloom continues.
Today a low pressure system north to south will pass through later in the day, which really will have no effect on us, other than our typical June gloom. https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=33.2,-108.3,4z/date=2023-06-14,01:10,-7
Clearing will start to occur in the valleys around noon and then along the coast later in the afternoon.
The Low pressure system goes through tonight and it can create some showers over LA mountains. Nothing here.
Thursday will be cooler.
Moving into the weekend some warming through Saturday, highs in the lower 70s along the coast and uppers-70s in the valleys. We will see better sunshine though Saturday.
Next week another low pressure system rolls through and basically gives us more fog and cooler temperatures. No relief from the cooler weather of fog at this point, but we’ll see what the second half of the week brings us.
The only good news to this forecast is you’re saving money from heating and AC.
God is helping with this through our natural A/C from the ocean temps.
Have a great day.

Good Tuesday morning,
Just a quick update today because there’s not a lot of excitement in our weather pattern to warrant a long email.
It does look like, all week, and even into next week, the coast will see fog and low clouds.
The valleys should start to warm and get up in the upper 70s towards the end of the week but still everywhere’s below normal.
Here’s how it looks from the sky, another low pressure system, with some mountain showers, but to the south of us. The only affect this will have on us will be morning fog each day.
https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=27.9,-120.4,4z/date=2023-06-13,05:30,-7
As mentioned as we get into the weekend, the valleys will warm up. Coastal areas will stay cool, and the June pattern continues.
Enjoy your week perfect working weather for Action Roofing.

Good Monday morning,
Sunday actually turned out to be a fairly nice day. Where we all got to see a few peeks of the sunshine and warming temperatures into the low 70s, which was a real treat.
It looks like this week, we will continue to have cool foggy weather, but nothing like the rain and dismal weather we had last week.
Today as you look at the zoom satellite picture, you’ll see that low pressure system well to the east over in Nevada and has created lots of heavy rain and showers to the east of us. It’s now out of the picture for us at least. The East Coast and Midwest will be feeling that here in the next couple days.
https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=26.8,-110,4z
As far as we go, this week, temperatures will remain below normal throughout the week with typical low clouds and fog along the coast, then actually clearing in the afternoons.
Inland valleys expect warm temperatures, more sunshine and highs in the upper 70s low 80s.
There’s still a cut off low that we’re going to need to deal with on Wednesday but it is not going to affect our weather. Maybe a few in Mountain showers, but it should not affect anything in our area.
As we get into later in the week, models really aren’t clear on what’s going to happen but they are hinting a warming pattern. How warm is it going to get? It’s really not clear at this point, but it looks like next week which could be getting into one of the hottest. We’ve had so far this year, at least in the valleys.
Bottom line, it is fair week, but fog and clouds to take up at minimum the first half of our days. Have a great week.

A good wet Sunday morning,
Last night, right around sunset, I looked outside way into the distance I could see a little bit of light trying to break through all the clouds that we had throughout the day.
Today a cut off low it’s just spinning. Just right off our coast to south of conception.
This has produced drizzle and some light rain as you rise out of bed and look outside. You’ll see the streets are all Wet.
https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=31.2,-121.2,5.72z
Today will be dreary, damp day as the low pressure system moves through this morning. Expect some drizzle , light rain through around noon today then will start to see some build ups over top of the mountains, which can create thunderstorms in the afternoon. It does appear that the thunderstorms will be more to the south. Anyone could see some build ups climb over the mountain this afternoon with thunder and lightning as possible and even hail.
Looking into next week no real changes low clouds and fog will persistent most of the week but a warming trend in the valley should start mid-week. We still have one more cut off low to deal with on Wednesday, but it doesn’t appear that this is going to really affect their weather too much at this point.
A warm up for the valleys and looks like on shore flow maybe less along the coast.
The coastal areas will even get some sunshine in the p.m.
Bottom line, enjoy one more day of cloudy down weather with below normal temps

Good Saturday morning,

Cloudy, cool, damp are all the words of the day.

A second low pressure system is drop down and it’s now parked over the central coast. This is going to affect the weather today to the north of our area. Not a huge impact to the north, but it will work its way down towards Santa Barbara and LA tonight and through Sunday

https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=36.1,-119.6,4z

As you rise this morning you see lots of clouds. These is going to fill our weekend skies. There is a chance of rain today, but the best chance will be tonight and tomorrow with Santa Barbara and South. Los Angeles will run the greatest chance of heavier rain, but both Ventura and Santa Barbara counties will see Mountain thunderstorms tonight through Sunday... this Low spin counterclockwise as you can see in the satellite picture. Whenever we have this type of system, rain over the mountains in Santa Barbara become more likely. The water values are 2 to 3 times what they typically are this time of year and 1 to 1.2 inches in value.

This again is quite unusual for June, but this pattern seems to want to just continue into the summer. It’s hard to believe that first day of summer is in 11 days,  it feels like the winter has just continued.

Today is cloudy and cold highs in the 60s rain chances 30 to 40%

Sunday cloudy and cool rain chances 40 to 50%

Monday the system begins to move to the east.

Tuesday it looks like our weather should improve a bit,  but another cut off low on Wednesday.

Yes, another chance of rain, the system is going to be smaller in size, but the models are beginning to increase the chances of rain on Wednesday.

Looking into the distance for array of sunlight.

For the third week in June, it looks like high-pressure may begin to build in onshore flow weakens and we begin to see what summer is all about.

In the meantime, not a great weekend if you’d like sunshine, outdoor activities will not be ruined, but a sweatshirt will be in order, and you may be dodging some rain, especially on Sunday.

Have a great weekend I’m sure will be in communication on Sunday

I might be a good weekend again for spring housecleaning
