We received 1.5 to 2 inches so far, but it is not over.

Rain is going to continue through the day.

Rain will pick up later today with possible showers with 1/2 to 1 inch rates per hour. Expect to see another 1/2 to 1 inch coastal and 1 to 2 inches in the mountains. LA is getting hammered right now.

Tonight, still a chance of showers, but rain will taper away.

Thursday for the most part will be dry, but still a chance of showers. 30% Thursday night and Friday morning. One more round of rain. This will be on the lighter side. Friday afternoon we dry out for 2 days. Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon will be dry.

Sunday night and Monday morning, one more rain storm. Again on the lighter side.

Are we ready for Action...... well you will need to wait until this afternoon. 

The low pressure system has slowed it's movement some, so rain will hold off 4 hour from predictions of yesterday.

Looks like the 12 to 1pm hour is about right for the rain to start.

Rain will start up around 1pm and pick up intensity as the afternoon turns to evening.

6pm to 6am will see the heaviest rain, really the 6am part is over LA. For us the heaviest rain should taper around 2 am. 

As this system approaches, it is going to stall over the SLO and Santa Barbara counties.

This will bring us a longer period of heavy rain. We are looking at 1/2 to 8/10 of an inch per hour.

There will be good south flow and winds of 15 to 25 miles an hour.

With this, clouds will hit the hills and ring out the rain cloud.

Expect the heaviest accumulations over our south-facing mountains of SB and Montecito. 3 to 5 inches is expected.

It seems week after week all we talk about is the rain. Thinking back, I think we have had rain every week for over a month, approaching 2 months.

That’s the way to break the drought, even if it is getting old….

Today we will see clouds, but no rain. Temps will be cool and below normal. This has been a trend for over a month.

Tonight, the low in the pacific moves closer to us. This is going to drift to the northeast and draw in the subtropical moisture.

This is a good sized low that will stall as it moves east. Rain will start up north to south Tuesday morning.

It has certainly been very active from the weather front. Next week will be no different.

Saturday’s system brought us almost 2 inches of rain, and between the 2 storms last week, 3 inches coastal and 4 inches in the mountains. 

This active rain pattern is going to continue. Today there is still a chance for scattered showers, but where they fall, it will likely be less than 1/10 of an inch.

Tonight and Monday will be dry. In reality it will be one of the few dry days next week.

Monday night, the next system starts to roll in. You can see it taking the same path and rolling in from Hawaii.

Once again, the heavier rain came over night. Of course it is like an alarm clock for me. 

At least I went to bed at 8 pm. 

Looking back on this rainy season, and past. Typically we will get good rain for a week, then a break for a week.

This year however, there has been no real breaks for a week. 

This trend will continue next week, as we have 2 more systems lined up for Tuesday night though Wednesday, now another on Friday. 

Everyone is now over 100% of rain fall for the year. Some are as much as 141% so far. 

We know of 2 more systems to come after today’s rain. Then we have the month of March.

At this pace there is no reason we will not fill all lakes. 

It is the last day of February and we have had quite an active weather month. 

Yesterday the rain started out quiet, but as the day went into the evening, the rain picked up.

We received close to 3/4 of an inch yesterday.

Where this was not a heavy rain. It certainly will keep all the creeks flowing.

Today will be cool and cloudy. Any rain chances should go away in the next few hours.

Friday, a weak ridge for the day. Then Friday night, the next system rolls in.

Another rainy Wednesday. I have not been keeping track, but I think Wednesdays the entire month of February have been wet.

Today will be no different. This next system will be on the weaker side. It also appears we will have a little time this morning to button up some work.

Rain is in SLO right now and moving south into Sant Maria.

Looks like the Santa Ynez Valley will see rain around 9 am and Santa Barbara around 11 am.

If you are going to northern California or the Sierras today, it is going to be wet and snowy.

For the Sierras, they are setting up to break records for snowfall for the season. The AR is going to be right over them through the day, before it begins to drop south.

Looks like they will see 2 to 4 inches of rain and a few feet of snow. (what are they doing with all that snow )

For us, we will see high clouds. Then as it turns to the night, the rain in the Bay areas drops to the south.

Rain will start up in the central coast around midnight, then drop south. Rain will start up in the Valley around dawn and arrive in Santa Barbara around 8am.

So much for the forecast of a dry week. 

Take a look, there is lots of Action that will begin to affect Northern California tonight. 

You can see the spinning low. It is also pulling the subtropical moisture from Hawaii into Northern California.

Rain is back in the forecast for Tuesday night on the central coast. Then sagging south on Wednesday affecting us. 

The Tuesday night through Wednesday night system is going be felt the most over the central coast.

They will see 1/2 to 3/4 of a inch. Northwest foothills can see 1 1/2 inches.

It now is looking like we will see some rain on Wednesday. It will be on the lighter side, but the rain will likely sag far enough south to affect our areas with some rain.

For your Sunday, we will have a nice day with a high in the low 60s.

Monday, another day like Sunday.

Tuesday, the clouds will start to stream into the area. Rain will stay to the north.

Tuesday night the rain will start up over the central coast, then move south.

Wednesday looks like we will see rain. This will be on the lighter side for Santa Barbara, maybe ¼ of an inch. The central coast will see a little more rain around ½ inch.
