Jack's Weather Report

3/26/2020

Good Thursday morning,

I hope everyone is waking virus free. Today that low pressure system is now moving into our area.

This is going to bring scattered showers to the area, with a northwest flow.

This means areas like Santa Barbara will be in a rain shadow due to our local mountains.

Areas in the central coast and Santa Ynez stand a better chance for rain.

Good Wednesday morning,

Our weather the entire month of March has been quite active.

The next 2 days will be no different, but rain totalS will be on the lighter side.

This is due to the showery nature of this next system.

Right now the low pressure system is moving into Northern California from Oregon.

This is a colder system with snow levels dropping to 3000 over night Wednesday.

COVID-19

By Jack Martin on Mar 24, 2020 at 02:00 PM

As more cases of COVID-19 (the novel coronavirus) are confirmed in Santa Barbara County, we want to assure you that Action Roofing and our affiliate companies, Action Energy and Beyond Heating and Air, are doing everything we can to prevent potential exposure to our clients and our employees. We are communicating daily with our employees to ensure they are as “up to date” as they can be and are continuing to practice safe operations. We are closely following the CDC guidelines and are currently listed as an essential business in the most recent Governor’s executive order.

Good Sunday morning,

Rain is on the way, you will have till around 2 pm, before dry turns to wet.

Low pressure is still 350 miles off point conception, so rain will stay away until the afternoon for Santa Barbara.

Rain in north county will start earlier, likely by noon.

Good Saturday morning,

What a week we have had. Trying to keep up with all the Action on and off the weather front.

Today I need to get caught up with the weather since I was distracted yesterday trying to figure out if it was work as normal for the construction industry.

Thankfully it is essential according to California state government, as it should be.

Now the weather, there has been a lot of Action this past week. We certainly welcome the rains.

Good Thursday morning,

It really is not that bad….This crazy world we live in. At least some of us are sane…. I know I am….Not locked in my house…

Today is the first day of Spring, the smell of the flowers is going to make you all smile…..

Weather wise, that low that has been hanging around is now drifting south from the northeast.

Good Wednesday morning,

It is chilly out there this morning. 32 degrees in Santa Ynez. It looks like we are going to see a few days of sunshine with shower possibilities in between.

The large low that influenced our weather Monday and Tuesday has split in 2 pieces. 1/2 is over Baja and moving slowly East.

This might cause a little rain in the LA area tonight. The other 1/2 is over Nevada and will drift towards us on Thursday.

Happy St Patrick’s Day!

Good Tuesday morning,

What a great day in Santa Barbara it was on Monday. The test truly came yesterday with Montecito receiving 3.5 inches of rain in 24 hours and all the streams and creeks flowed perfect.

It was close at one point and CHP was poised to close the 101, but the rain began to back off. Romero Canyon received 1 inch of rain in 30 minutes which started the Rise of the creeks and stream.

Good wet Monday morning,

Pretty impressive looking low pressure system to the north over the Bay Area.

https://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/GOES/conus_band.php?sat=G17&band=09&length=12

This is bringing us pre-frontal rain this morning, before the low continues it southward.

Movement. Today will pretty much be rainy all day, with heavier rain moving in north to south. Right now the central coast is feeling the heavier rain, here in SB this will arrive in the next few hours, Ventura late morning to noon and LA in the afternoon.

Rain rates will be at a peak of 1/2 per hour. With rain totals .75 to 1.5 coastal and up to 3 inches in the mountains. Tonight the snow levels drop to 3500 feet and local mountains will see 4 to 8 inches. Tuesday the front opens and our weather changes from steady rain to showers. You will even see some sunshine on Tuesday.
