6/21/19 Summer Solstice
Welcome to Summer... ( I think 🤔!)
Today is the longest day of the year, but it will be with day light, not sunshine if you live along the coast. Someday we will be able to go to vandenburg and rocket 3000 feet in the air to see the sun on this day. I guess we could go the the airport and do the same today. This season has been quite the change from what we have been used to over the past 5 years. June gloom has been over us most of the month and May Gray produced more rain then we have ever seen in history. The good news is it is the 21st of June, and truly the summer is coming. Around September we will all be wishing for a day like today.

Good gloomy Wednesday morning,
June gloom is at full strength. Streets are wet and fog is at 2500 to 3000 feet thick.
If you look at the satellite you would think we had clear skies, but coastal fog is blanketing the first 3000 feet.

If you want warm and sunshine, go to palm springs. Check out the temps there. Amazing how a short distance can have a 30 to 40 degrees difference.

Good Tuesday morning,
Take a look at the satellite. you can see the clouds passing over us today and creating a weak on shore flow. Also look way to the south in the southern pacific.
The tropical Action is beginning to arrive, but nothing as far as storms yet.

3 days till summer solstice, Friday the 21st. Unfortunately it will not feel like summer on Friday in SB or most of California.
It will actually be the coldest day in the next 7. 5 to 10 degrees below normal.

Good Monday morning,
I hope everyone had a great Father’s Day weekend, to spite the damp weather here.
It looks like a typical June gloom week, with temps below normal and fog through the week.
Today will be more of the same, everything is wet out there this morning. Clearing will be slow and some coastal areas will not clear at all.
Tuesday, off shore flow arrives. This will lead to clearing earlier in the afternoons.

Happy Friday,
A big weekend ahead for grads and dads. UCSB will have their annual graduation outdoors.
Everyone attending will be happy to have fog and a cool weekend.
Today, the marine layer has increased to 2500 feet.
This will blanket the coastal and valleys this morning, keeping us cool with clearing later from the valleys to the coast.
Clearing will be tough in some coastal areas at all today. The one exception is the SB coast.

Good Thursday the 13th,
It was a welcome cooler day on Wednesday. This cooling trend will continue though Friday, then rebound slightly over the weekend.
Today we are looking at the marine layer at 1400 feet. This will drift into the valleys and keep everyone cooler today.
The marine layer will burn off in the valleys late this morning, then in SB in the afternoon.
This will cool us off more. Highs around 70 in Santa Barbara and inland in the low 80s. Overall perfect working weather.
Friday will be pretty much a carbon copy of today. Fog and cooler...
Grads and dads weekend!!

Good Wednesday morning,
What a great few days we have had, as we welcomed back summer like weather.
If you were as lucky as I was, you saw great summer like weather at the bowl last night, and what a show....
Train was fantastic..... going down as one of the 5 best shows I have ever seen there.
This morning, we are waking to fog.
6/11/19
Good Tuesday morning,
It is going to be another hot day, everywhere...
I feel like I must be on vacation, because the weather has done a 180 from what we have been used to. Yesterday it was down right hot in Santa Ynez with a high of 106.
Santa Barbara was also very warm in the upper 80s. Today is going to be another really warm day. Highs will be in the upper 80s and low 90s in SB. Valleys will also be hovering in the 100 degree area, however, cooling is on the way.
Summer Has Arrived 6/9/19
Good Sunday morning,
Summer is arriving.
What a great weekend so far, and the good news is it gets better and continues into midweek.
Saturday night was fantastic, it was the first time in quite awhile where you could sit outside and enjoy the evening and fantastic sunset...
If you are at the lake, you are in heaven. Highs in the upper 90s.

Along the coast, we will wake to a little fog, but it will burn off quickly. Highs will make it into the low 80s.
6/7/19
Good Friday morning,
The weekend is upon us and you are going to like what I have to say.....
Today we will have typical night and morning low clouds and another damp start to the day.
Except if you are in SLO. You will have a nice sunny day, and warm.
Tonight in SB we will have a weak sundowner wind event, around 15 miles an hours....
Now the good news, you will need your sunscreen.
