Good Wednesday Morning,

Viva La Fiesta day. It all starts today! Here is the schedule Events Calendar - Old Spanish Days | Fiesta Santa Barbara (sbfiesta.org)

As far as the weather goes, it is starting out perfect. A nice cool morning to start the day with the ocean A/C working to perfection. No actual AC needed in SB. 58 degrees to start our morning!

It does look like we will have 3 cooler days with highs in the upper 70s to 80 coastal and a nice mid 80s in the valleys. This will be a nice change to the heat the valleys have seen over the last few weeks.

On Saturday it all changes back to hot. 95 to 105 in the valleys. 110 in the interior and upper 80s coastal.

Sunday will be the hottest day of the weekend and weeks.

A cooling trend will start next week, along with a possibility of monsoonal moisture moving in. This will need to be watched, but in the mean time, nice cooler weather through Friday, then we heat up Saturday, especially in the valleys and interior through Monday.

Viva La fiesta

Good Monday morning,

I hope everyone had a great relaxing Sunday before it starts all over again today.

Sunday the tropics came to us with some humidity and subtropical clouds and weather.

https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=33.5,-105.8,4.35z

Today will be the first cool down day, lasting into Wednesday. High clouds should keep the heating to a minimum and valleys and inland areas will be cooler.

Don’t get used to it, because the heat wave inland returns Thursday when hot returns though the weekend.

Santa Barbara will be just fine with high around 80 each day.

Enjoy the week.

Good Sunday morning,

Summers in Santa Barbara, how sweet it is. No where better this time of year for the next 3 months. Warm nights, 80s during the day. No thunderstorms, humidity, bugs, hurricanes or days of really hot temps.
Yesterday was just one of those days and nights. I hope everyone got to enjoy it.
No need to jump on a plane unless you’re coming here.

We have 2 more days of July, then we turn the page to August and Fiesta week.

So you ask what’s in store for the weather next week?

In Santa Barbara there will be very few changes, high in the low 80s lows in the 60s. Maybe some morning fog, but burning off quickly.
The valleys, well you will suffer though a few more days of really hot weather with upper 90s to 100 degrees. The good news is there will be a break Tuesday though Thursday where temps will drop in the the 80s, then rise again for the weekend.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday, the ocean temp is rising at 64 degrees, so a beach day is in order. Enjoy and Viva La Fiesta

Good Thursday morning,

The month of July has flown by and we are into the last 4 days before we roll into August. As you can see the heat wave will continue into mid next week before we get a break Wednesday. The only relief will be right on the beach areas, where low 80s will make the ocean the place to be this weekend.

Our local valleys will remain hot until next week with upper 90s for all. Even the evening in some foothills will stay hot over night with 70s. Not cooling a lot.

Inland valleys, the HWY 41 will be packed with cars coming from Bakersfield to get to the coast where 80s are a lot better than 100s.

Right now as you rise it is a nice 60 degrees, the highs in SB will range from 80 at the coast and low 90s in the foothills.

Upper 90s in Santa Ynez and deserts just like a frying pan 🍳. Way to hot you will sizzle.

Next week cooling for valleys into mid week.

Los Angeles, Enjoy the summer weather along the coast this weekend, that will be the one spot to be.

Mark your spot on the beach, because they will be filling up this weekend!

Enjoy, welcome to summer

Good Monday morning,

I hope everybody had a great weekend. Sunday certainly was a fantastic day to be in Santa Barbara nice breeze 80°, perfect weather!

This morning as we rise and start our work week in Santa Barbara, there’s a little bit of mist in the air just our air conditioner called the Pacific Ocean working overtime.

Looking at the satellite picture, you can see that there’s low pressure system spinning counterclockwise, which is going to create a little bit of havoc and airline delays in the Colorado area.
https://zoom.earth/

Here locally no real changes, to any extremes, but we will begin a cool down for that inland Valley areas. It looks like upper 90s are going to go to lower 90s in Santa Ynez and our local valleys.. and Santa Barbara just more of the same, some mist in the morning fog and then clearing highs and low 80s.

Just perfect weather enjoy your week and we will talk soon.

Interesting news I read today. The Santa Barbara news press is no longer. They printed their last paper Friday, let all staff go and filed bankruptcy. Wow the old is out and new takes over another segment of our lives. It is all about keeping up with the new world of technology, we live in. Personally I can not remember the last time I read a black and white news paper.

Kids will never get to experience what I did in the afternoons in the 1970s, packing 80 newspapers on my bike at 12 years old delivering the Philadelphia bulletin…

Shoot that was a long time ago…

Have a great week,

Good Sunday morning,

Take a look at the monsoonal moisture drifting up from the South. You normally do not see flow south-to north, but today you can see it on the satellite. This should not do anything more then give sprinkles in a few spots
https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=26.4,-115.5,5.19z

Overall today and in the long run… Hot in the valleys through the entire next week. Highs in all valleys 90s to over 100.
Coastal, quite a difference, highs will be 20 plus degrees cooler, just 30 minutes away.

Starting the day in SB, beautiful fog. Open the window and let the nice cool air blow-in. No A/C needed here.

Micro climates here are incredible. Yesterday I had to run up to Santa Ynez in the morning. Arrived at 9am 73 degrees, and left at 12:30 at 99 degrees near Cachuma.

Then went to Brophy Brothers for a late lunch. It was 72 degrees.
That's a difference of 27 degrees in 30 miles. Almost 1 degree per mile.

As far as the next week goes, just more of the same. Hot inland and nice along the coast with some fog each morning.

Have a great Sunday,
Jack Martin

Good Friday morning,

Let’s think back around a month ago...
Do you remember when I told us we would be wishing we had cold temps and fog? Well, I think all interior valleys will really appreciate that memory. Phoenix, Arizona today will have the 22nd day in a row over 110 degrees, in contrast we will be 82 degrees. Where would you like to be?

It is always interesting to me listening to the national news. Doom and gloom only. They never talk about where the weather is great only where it is miserable. We are sitting here loving our forecast along the coast.

Where it will be quite hot just over the hill in SY and a short distance away in other interior locations. The good news is that you can pack your car and drive to the beach in less than 1 hour.

For us lucky ones in SB, we don’t have to go anywhere.
We will keep our secret from the national news, because real estate cost here is high enough as it is 🤣

Here is our forecast for the next week. Perfect low 80s as highs and 58 overnight. We love the Pacific Ocean A/C unit that sits next to us.

100 in Santa Ynez this weekend, If you get too hot in the valleys just come over the hill.

Enjoy the great weekend in SB

Good Thursday morning,

Waking up in Santa Barbara today at 57 degrees is way better than Vegas, where it is starting out at 87 degrees at 530 am.

That’s nuts, and I am happy I am not in Vegas or any interior cities.

Yesterday I was wrong when I said 13 days in Phoenix it was over 110°, I believe it’s now day 20.

The heat wave is on again, looks like it will continue into later next week where we won’t have crazy numbers like this. It’s still gonna get hot in the valleys, nearing and approaching 100. Santa Barbara manageable in the low to mid 80s.

Friday night should be great at the bowl with Jason Mraz playing. Should be a great show. Hope everybody has a nice weekend. I’ll see you at the bowl tomorrow.

Good Wednesday morning,

Here we go again, it’s heating up in all valleys as the red zone grows closer to the beaches.

Los Angeles, CA.pngAlong the beaches, a different story. Fog at my house this early morning where it is quite damp to start the day.

Looks like coastal areas will clear later this morning with the high in the low 80s valleys, different story mid to upper 90s and interior valleys, Bakersfield, etc. 100 plus

It does appear that we will have an extended heat wave for a Valley areas through mid week next. Coastal areas will still remain cooler with highs in the low to mid 80s.

Stay cool and drink lots of water, it’s heating up out there.

Looks like the ocean temps are remaining reasonable at 63 degrees today.

This helps us stay cool in Santa Barbara. It sure beats the Phoenix Arizona area which is had 110° plus for the past 13 days. They’re going for a record this weekend.

Vegas same way hundred plus for more than 10 days.

The beach sounds like the place to be this weekend.

I might need to break out my bike for a ride.

Have a great Wednesday.

Good Tuesday morning,

The good news, the red zone of excessive heat is moving further to the east and today will be the coolest in the next 7 days.
https://www.weather.gov/lox/

The bad news, we will warm up again in the interiors starting on Wednesday and extend into next week.

Today the heat will be manageable with sunshine and highs around 90 in Santa Ynez and 80 in SB.

The coastal fog will continue to hug the coastline with fog at times during the next week. Just enough to keep the coastal city’s in the 80 degrees range. Valleys and interiors you start to warm up again. 95 will be the highs in Santa Ynez and interior valleys well over 100. Palm spring a cool down at 114. “Just get out of there”

Temps for the next week will be around 5 degrees above normal, with mid July summer weather in full swing.

Enjoy the perfect coastal weather that Santa Barbara brings us.

As I always say when I return from a trip, "There is no where better than right here In Santa Barbara"

See you out there in the trenches
