Heavy Rain

By Jack Martin on Jan 06, 2016 at 07:10 AM

Well first of all, was yesterday not a great day to see the heavy rain and water flowing down the streets?!

As much as I was very tired after a long day of covering roofs with plastic, it was great to see lots of rain. Most of us received almost 2 inches of rain in total so far.

Today now is going to be wild. Take a look at this low spinning just off shore. This has great rotation and a negative tilt.

What this all means is we are going to have heavy rain and south winds; much more then yesterday. Rain rates are going to be 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch per hour. This afternoon even thunder showers and some tornados are possible. National weather service is even talking about roofs blowing shingles away. (Good for business)

Rain will start shortly. Around 7 am and go pretty steady till 11 or 12. This afternoon expect more showers and rain, behind. This is a colder system and will bring heavy downpours at time.

Another batch of rain around midnight tonight, then showers Thursday and Friday.

Not as often or steady, but we will see rain at times.

Saturday we will see one more, weaker system dropping another 1/4 to 1/2 inch of rain.

Sunday we will get a 2 day break, then another shot of rain Monday night or Tuesday.

This system is too far out to make any calls on at this point.

Today however, will not disappoint, it will be a pretty exciting day if you like heavy rain.

Trying to keep everyone dry in the homes and businesses

Thank you for coming up to do the demo for the Career Fair at Los Prietos. All the boys were fascinated by the chance to see how sheet metal is formed, and to do some of it themselves. A hands-on demo is always the most effective in getting the boys involved. We really appreciate your arranging the demo, especially since you had already put so much energy into the talk and demo you did for the Construction Technology class. The teaching and Probation staff were all impressed by how involved the boys were in your demo.
