Good Wednesday morning,

Just  a quick update on our summer heatwave. Hot weather will continue in all valleys and inland area. Santa Ynez is looking at highs of 96 today and the heat Is crazy in the inland valleys with 100 plus. Along the coast, some relief with low 80s.

This will continue through the weekend, then some relief by the end of the weekend.

The real story line is the lake fire. This has been growing and the winds have shifted allowing us to see the smoke and ash. Ash was falling on my car yesterday.

Today the wind have shifted and the smoke is blowing to the East, so Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez valley will not see the smoke as bad today . Unfortunately the smoke will come back tonight as winds shift to the southwest.

Where the air quality is not terrible in Santa Barbara we always hate to see the hills burning up. There is no threat to homes at this point, but some areas in Santa Ynez, Woodstock area are in the evacuation zone.

Today will be a hazy day with Pasadena like air quality.

Here is a good article on the fire https://www.noozhawk.com/more-evacuations-firefighter-injuries-night-helicopter-water-drops-for-lake-fire-in-santa-barbara-county/🔥
