Good Thursday morning,

A weak system is approaching from the north. This is closer to the coast (westerly) so it will bring some light rain to areas to the north. Light rain is likely.

You can see this moving from north to south. Rain will arrive in SLO and northern Santa Barbara county into Santa Ynez later this morning.

It does look like chances of rain drop off south of point conception. Santa Barbara has a 30% chance and in Ventura, rain is not in the forecast.

Because this system is diving down north to south, Santa Barbara will likely see no rain, maybe some sprinkles. Our mountains will likely create a rain shadow over us.

Areas to the north like Santa Ynez will likely see some rain, but not a lot, around 1/10th of an inch.

Friday a ridge builds in and we warm up. It will be sunny and pleasant.

Saturday a weak system approaches and will cool us off. It looks like we will see no rain from this.

Sunday and Monday looks to also remain dry with off shore flow.

Tuesday, a system starts to drop in bringing another chance of rain.

Looking into the long term on Wednesday, models are showing it to be wet. This is down the line right now, so this is still up in the air.

We will get a better read on this on Monday.

In the meantime, today a little rain Santa Ynez north, and windy south in SB. We will see northwest winds continue.

Friday will be a really nice day.

Saturday looks fine, just a little cooler as a weak system passes through.

Sunday and Monday off shore flow keeps us dry.

Sometime into Tuesday, the next chance of rain begins.

If we receive no rain untill next Tuesday, we will meet the 19 day average of no rain for the period in December - January period since 1951.
