1/29/19 Weather

Good Thursday morning,

2 more days of January, then we welcome February.

For the record, February is normally our wettest month, and also our shortest month.

This all means we should have more rain days.

With that being said, we are going to start February with rain, it is also looking like we will see at least 3 different systems in the 7 day forecast.

We have 2 more dry days, then the tap opens.

Thursday or over night Wednesday the rain will begin. We will see light to moderate rainfall 1/4 to 1/2 inch. LA will see more 1/4 to 3/4.

This first system is weaker and will not pack a big punch.

Thursday we will clear in the afternoon and be dry through at least Friday afternoon.

The next stronger system arrives Friday afternoon to over night Saturday. Models are struggling with the timing, but not with the rain totals.

This system will drop lots of rain, because it will tap into subtropical moisture from Hawaii.

Yes, Pineapple Express.

We are looking at heavier rain with 2 to 3.5 inches at this time. Rain will be heavy at times. We could see 1/2 to 1 inch per hour at the peak of the rain.

Saturday should be wet through mid day at least. It all depends on when the rain actually starts.

Sunday during the day looks to be dry. Then Sunday night the next system. The weather service is not talking about how much with this one yet...

Bottom line, we are going to get lots of rain to start the month. Get ready for a strong storm over night Friday into Saturday.

Enjoy the sun while it lasts, you will not see much of it for awhile.

It will be back to playing in the mud. We need the rain, bring it on. I want to see Cachuma lake fill up...

Here is what it looks like from the sky.
