12/31/2018 Forecast

Good Monday morning,

Or the last 18 hours of 2018.

Where fireworks may be common for New Year’s Eve, this will be replaced by wind in ventura and areas south into Pasadena.

Wind is going to come up tonight before the celebration in those areas. We are going to have a cold Santa Ana wind event. Winds will blow into New Year’s Day.

It is looking like those areas can see 20 to 30 mile winds and gusts 45 to 60 in the mountains and valleys.

This will make for a tough new year day at the rose bowl parade and game.

Temps will also be well below normal. Lows in valleys will dip into the 20 something the next few nights.

Highs will be in the low 60s.

This is all thanks to an inside slider dropping south right now.

There is a good pressure gradience  which will create the wind event.

You can see it on the satellite picture.

For those in Santa Barbara and SLO, the winds will not be a factor. Only the cold.

As we move into the new year, the weather stays dry until the later part of the weekend.

Then the rain chances begin again.

It is still too far away to really know what will happen, but the subtropical jet is looking to move into Southern California.

If that happens it could be a pretty wet storm. Time will bring on the facts, as we move into Thursday and Friday.

It does look like we will great the cold snap Thursday and Friday, as warmer air moves in.

I hope everyone has a great New Year’s Eve and welcomes in 2019 on Tuesday.

Be safe out on the roads.

I personally will be welcoming in a New York New Years and read about a west coast celebration on New Year’s Day.

If your in the windy areas, be prepared. it will blow pretty hard on the celebrations new year eve and day.

Talk to all in 2019, enjoy!
