Weekend Weather

Good Friday morning,

This week went fast with a Monday holiday.

It certainly feels like the seasons are changing this week. Nights have been cooler and morning damp. It is beginning to feel like fall, but we are going to take a pause through the weekend.

Summer will return with warm temps. Santa Barbara will warm each day with highs in the mid-80s. For the valleys you will also feel the heat. Highs in Santa Ynez will be in the 90s and around 100 on Saturday, lows in the 50s at night.

This is all due to high pressure building in.

We should even see some gusty sundowner winds Saturday night, mainly in the Goleta and Gaviota areas. SB will also feel these at 20 to 30 miles an hour. This will keep Santa Barbara quite warm Saturday night, with lows at around 68. That's a warm night.

Sunday will be a great day to take a bike ride, clear skies in the morning and warmer weather.

Next week we will go back to fall, with a few systems coming out of the gulf of Alaska. This will result in cooler temps, fog and maybe some drizzle for us.

No rain yet, but the season is not far off. Each week I think the rain shadow will begin to get closer. Sometime in October we will see our first rain.

Until then, the Indian summer begins. This should bring us summer-like weather at different periods through October.

Enjoy the first one.

As a side note, hurricane season is really coming alive on the east coast. Looks like there are 4 lines up now. The weather channel will get higher rates over the month of Sept.

Here on the west coast it is much quieter with only 2 hurricanes going out in the pacific, bothering nothing but ship traffic.

Have a great weekend. These updates are going to start coming more often again.
